The manuscript described below was presented to the Library by Mrs Joanna Wright of Rochdale in May 2000. We are grateful to the bookseller, George Kelsall, of Littleborough, for helping to arrange this donation.
The Library already holds one the largest collections of material by and about Tim Bobbin, including the largest concentration of his manuscripts. The collection was built up mainly in the nineteenth century by local antiquarians and collectors and we have attempted to add relevant material whenever possible. This new work is an important addition to the collection not least because it demonstrates Tim Bobbin's interest the Scots language as well as his awareness of local affairs and current events.
