Homer: Iliad. Translated by Thomas Jones. English. C19th.

Blue cloth exercise book.

Loose slip in C.T.E. Phillipp's hand, saying that from the Crossley collection. Notebook lined paper, 17.7 x 11.5 cms. 58 leaves not numbered and not all used.

1st leaf, recto: Translation in verse of the first book of Homer's Iliad, by Thomas Jones, B.A., F.S.A.' W.E.A.A. [i.e. Thomas Jones, Chetham's librarian, 1845-75; W.E.A. Axon of the Manchester Public Libraries]. 1st leaf, verso: Text begins. Written across the double page.  Mostly written in ink, a little in pencil.

At end, written the other way on, the first few lines in the same hand.
