and Ann Wainwright both of Manchester by licence: H. Owen, Surro.
Manchester Mercury Tuesday 8th November 1774, p. 4 col.4: ' On Wednesday
last was married at the Collegiate Church, Mr. Henry Whitaker, Schoolmaster,
to Mrs. Wainwright and Mother to Dr. Wainwright, Organist of the said Church.'
Manchester Mercury 22nd September 1772, p. 4:
At a Meeting of the PRESIDENT and MEMBERS of the CONVERSATION SOCIETY, at the Bull's Head on Tuesday the 8th Instant, it was unanimously agreed, that the most eligible and genteel PLAN for carrying on and supporting the said Society, for the ensuing Winter, with Credit and Respect, would be by a SUBSCRIPTION of SIXTY PERSONS, at the least, at Half a Guinea each, for twenty-one Nights, and One Shilling Entrance for Non Subscribers.
Whoever choose to encourage so useful and agreeable an Entertainment, may pay their Subscription-Money to Mr. Henry Whitaker , Librarian.
As soon as the Subscription is filled, a Meeting will be called to choose a President and a Treasurer from the Body of Subscribers.
P.S. Each Subscriber to have a transferable Ticket.
